Night market benefits disadvantaged

The East Rand 41ers Club (41ers), in conjunction with Golden East 181 Round Table (GE181), have put together a Movies in the Park night once a month at Benoni Northerns.

The movie night is held every last Friday of the month together with the Legends of the North Night Market.

Alex Staniland, East Rand 41ers Club interim chairperson, explained how the idea came about.

He said as a family man he realised that when the sun goes down, there isn’t much for a family to do, especially entertainment wise.

“I wanted something family orientated and low cost,” said Staniland.

“We (41ers and GE181) decided to kill two birds with one stone and turned the idea into a community fund-raiser.

All proceeds raised go towards the Golden East 181’s community services.

Staniland added that they would like to thank Benoni Northerns Sports Club for the partnership.

Entrance is charged at R30 for adults and for children over five-years-old its R10.

The movie starts at 7pm and the market at 5pm.
