Author aims to enhance lives

Motivational speaker and author Roslyn Basserabi addressed members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) in Northmead on August 16.

The vibrant Basserabi held up a yellow piece of paper with a black dot in the middle and asked the audience what they saw first.

Some said they first noticed the dot and others reported seeing the background first.

Basserabi compared the black dot to the troubles we face in life and the yellow background as the “sparkle” that makes up the rest of our lives.

“It’s okay to recognise the black dot, but you need to live in the yellow background,” she said.

“If you put out genuine positive energy, it can be felt by the people around you; and if you fake it, people can feel it.”

Basserabi shared information about the challenges she faced in life and how she wouldn’t have survived without a higher power.

She said life is made up of synergy. God, the puppeteer, is always in control. We are his puppets.

The author recommends people take a different route whenever they walk, run or gym in order to enhance their experience.

“There is no such thing as an accident – it’s all synergy,” she said.

When faced with life’s difficulties, Basserabi encourages people to stop fighting. They should just go through the hard times.

“It might be sore, but you’ll reach the shore as opposed to drowning while trying to fight the wave,” said the author of ‘From my heart to yours – enhance your life with G.R.A.C.E’.

Several words make up the letters of the word ‘grace’.

The book provides readers with tools to enhance or better their lives.

She ended her talk by asking people to ask themselves one question every morning: “Ask yourself this question every day: ‘Am I adding value to my life and to the lives of others?’ Whatever you do, will boomerang. That means it will come back to you.”
