Four arrested following Actonville mob justice attack

Four men were arrested on a charge of murder following a mob justice attack in Actonville on August 12.

Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD media liaison officer, said the incident happened on the corner of Bermingham and Parow roads, at about 1pm.

Mokheseng said a group of people, who were driving in two Quantum mini busses and a Conquest, stopped at the intersection, and apparently assaulted a pedestrian.

He said the incident was recorded in a video.

Mokheseng said the assailants scattered after the crime, but with the help of the video footage, two were arrested at a nearby bottle store.

Mokheseng said these men told authorities that a person driving the Conquest drove a man with stab wounds to hospital, who had apparently been stabbed by the deceased.

Police arrested the two people.

The four are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
