UPDATE: Northmead Square Kodak store victim of robbery for fourth time

The owner of Kodak Express in Northmead Square had to close his store on Tuesday after being robbed earlier that morning.

“This is the fourth time the store has been robbed,” said Darren Lustig, who has owned the store for 19 years.

“The store’s alarm went off when the suspects entered around 5.30am and my security company notified me.

“Shortly after, I was told that the store was broken into.”

According to Lustig, the store has a camera which revealed that seven armed men entered the store after breaking the front door.

At the time of speaking to City Times, Northmead Square management said, to their knowledge, nobody was hurt.

“Additional security measures will be put in place to minimise risk,” management said.

“Securities were on site fulfilling their duties during the time of the robbery.

“A security officer who was monitoring the site alerted the reaction unit and they were on site prior to the suspects leaving the scene.”

Lustig said that CMS (a security company) was also on scene and approached the suspects before their getaway.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson said no arrests have been made as yet.
