Benoni Northerns’ Colts are league winners

Benoni Northerns Football Club’s (BNFC) u-20 A team were recently crowned the Eastern Local Football Association (ELFA) Colts League Division One champions for 2017.

It is a wonderful achievement given how young the squad is.

The average age is below 18.

The last time a BNFC team won the Colts League was 12 years ago.

A number of their players have come through the club’s junior ranks and most of the young men have made their debuts for BNFC’s senior third, reserves and first teams this season with a handful becoming regulars in these teams.

The team played a total of 14 league matches, winning 11 games, drawing two and losing one.

They scored 42 goals, conceded 14 with a differential of 28 goals.

The Colts won the league with a points total of 35 (four ahead of the runners-up).

The team is still in the running for the Colts Cup competition after they winning the first leg quarter-final 3-0 versus Titans FC this past weekend.

The team’s management is also proud of a number of players in the squad who have been selected to represent their district.

Ten players from the BNFC Colts have been chosen to represent the u-17 ELFA team and a further seven have made it to the final trials for the u-20 district team.
