Chief-Supt Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said the EMPD Equestrian Unit members picked up a signal of a hijacked car along Pretoria Road at about 1pm.
“The driver of the hijacked silver Toyota Corolla attempted to speed away when the metro police beckoned him to stop,” said Kgasago.
“He could not out-pace the metro police vehicles and after a short distance, he was cornered and arrested.”
The car was hijacked in Soshanguve the night before.
The suspect, who is from Etwatwa, is due to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
