Benoni’s only cinema will receive some TLC

Benoni’s only cinema, the Ster-Kinekor at Northmead Square, may soon receive a facelift.

Jessica Wall wrote on the Benoni City Times’ Facebook page wall on July 15, where she expressed her dissatisfaction with the state of the movie theatre.

“I went to watch a movie with my girls at Northmead Square today,” she said.

“I was beyond disgusted at the state of the movie house.

“There were broken chairs; some chairs didn’t even have back rests.

“The seat in front of us looked like someone had thrown up on it and had been half-heartedly cleaned.”

The City Times sent the the complaint and accompanying image to Ogilvy Public Relations, who deal with the company’s public relations.

“We are aware of the customer complaint regarding the condition of the Northmead Square cinema in Benoni,” said Lynne Wylie, of Ster-Kinekor.

“We are in the process of upgrading the cinema.

“The broken seats will be repaired by the end of July and all the seats, the electrical infrastructure and the carpets will be upgraded by the end of September.”
