Cxntent shines on ‘The Hustle’

Young rapper Zama Nzama, also known as Cxntent, was recently featured on hip hop reality show “The Hustle” session two on Vuzu TV.

The 24-year-old made it to the top seven on the show.

He said being on the show has been a great experience.

“The pressure was both good and bad because you can either sink or swim, but the lessons I learnt were priceless and really helped me to grow,” said Nzama.

“I learned how the music industry works, how you need to approach certain situations and how you need to make good music.”

The Crystal Park resident started writing his music at the age of 15.

He said his music appeals to different audiences as he raps the truth.

“My music talks about pain, fear, love, ambition and self-confidence. These are some common things we all struggle with and everyone can relate in some way.

The former member of hip hop group Where Real Art Progresses (Wrap), released his first solo album in 2016 titled “10Thousand hours”, which was influenced by his struggles and victories as a solo artist.

In his eight years of making music, the Gekombineerde Skool Noorderlig past learner is motivated by seeing his peers flourish.

“That always pushes me to elevate myself; I choose to use other people’s light to help me find my own path,” said Nzama.

Nzama added that he plans to stay relevant in the music industry by giving people honest music.

“I got into music to express myself and I want to do it honestly,” he said.

Besides being a musician, Nzama is also a producer, video editor and director.

He graduated from City Varsity with a diploma in sound engineering.

When asked for his advice to other young musicians Nzama said: “Take a chance – the worst thing you could do to yourself is live in doubt and fear.”

Nzama is currently working on his second album.
