Lorna Sanders has been appointed principal of Willowmoore High School.

The Crystal Park resident has been acting principal this year, after the retirement of Kennia Plaskitt, who served as head of the Benoni South school for 20 years.

The appointment of the former deputy head of the school is effective as of June 1.

Sanders started her career at Benoni High School 35 years ago, where she taught for 12 years.

She then moved to Willowmoore as a head of department for mathematics, but also taught biology and her passion, IT.

Sanders, who has been at Willowmoore for 23 years, hopes to build on the school ethos and discipline.

“The learners need to take responsibility for their future and learning,” she said.

“Parents can be assured, as staff of Willowmoore, we will do everything to give our children the best education possible.”
