Police fatally wound man on Voortrekker Street

Police shot dead a man who allegedly tried to kill three taxi operators at the Voortrekker Street taxi rank this evening (April 21).

Maj-Gen Poobalan Subbiah, Ekurhuleni Central Cluster SAPS commander, said the incident happened at around 6.25pm.

He said police shot dead the man who allegedly fired at the three operators.

One of the three taxi operators was shot in the stomach while the other two were shot in the leg.

The injured were transported to hospital.

Police were still on scene at 7.33pm.
