The pigs, goats and sheep were to be moved to one foster home and the cows to another, before revamp work was due to start at the park, on March 1.

A change in plans has interrupted the move.
Tania Forrest-Smith, committee member of the Ward 27 environment portfolio, said the animals will now all go to one location.
The potential foster home, about which no details could be divulged at the time of publishing, was due to be inspected by Jaco Burger, the metro’s project manager for parks and cemeteries, and Smaragda Louw, Ban Animal Trading chairperson, on March 9.

Forrest-Smith said the sterilisation of the park’s bunnies had also not started by March 8.
Due to this delay, no bunnies would be ready for adoption on March 11, as previously published.
“Jaco has, however, assured me there will be bunnies ready, sterilised and up for adoption on the following Saturday, March 18, at 8.30am,” said Forrest-Smith.
Clr Jacques Meiring (ward 27) said all the stakeholders were happy with the change in plans so far.
The park was officially closed to the public on March 1 and will remain so until at least July.
