Man found in car with gunshot wound to head

A man was left critically injured this afternoon (March 3) when he sustained a gunshot wound to his head at a business on Hazel Road in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said paramedics were called to the scene after a member of the public found the man in his vehicle.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the patient seated inside a light motor vehicle,” said Meiring.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his head.

“While the patient was being assessed, paramedics found that his vital signs rapidly deteriorated.”

Advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise his vital signs.

The man was airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for urgent treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
