Benoni Northerns Swimming Pool closes
The Benoni Northerns Swimming Pool has officially closed its doors on February 8, until further notice.
Following the recent article by the City Times, which quoted the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) saying the green-watered pool is still safe to use, Ward 27 Clr, Jacques Meiring disagreed.
The water was tested by a laboratory in Benoni on Wednesday (February 8) and the pH level was 2.44.
“This means that the water is too acidic and not safe to swim in,” Meiring said.
“The acceptable pH level should be 6.”
Meiring added that the pool will only be reopened when the filtration system is fully operational and the water stabilises to an acceptable pH level.
