Benoni Lakes Lions fight hunger

     

 

The Lions clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Lions everywhere share a common belief, “community is what we make it”. Nearly 1-billion people don’t get enough food to be healthy. “Organising this project gave us a chance to assist members of our community who don’t have enough to eat or can’t afford to buy nutritious food,” said Nick Maré, club president.

The Benoni Lakes Lions Club gave out 50 goody bags and 22 boxes containing staple foods, treats and toiletries to various needy folk around Benoni on Saturday, January 21. This event is part of the Relieving the Hunger Campaign, a Lions global campaign taking place during the months of December and January that focuses on hunger and malnutrition.
