Ravjee obtained distinctions for all eight subjects that she took in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) exams, including English, Afrikaans, French, life orientation, science, biology, accounting and mathematics.
“I feel a bit surprised; I never expected an ‘A’ for Afrikaans, but I have never been happier,” Ravjee said.
Despite her achievement – and her dad being a chartered accountant – Ravjee’s most challenging subject was accounting.
But that did not stop her from striving for her goals.
“I constantly strived and challenged myself to do better,” she said.
“Having a balance between my social life, school and extramural activities also helped.
“Matric is a challenging year, but at the end of the day, don’t forget to have some fun.”
Ravjee intends to further her studies at the University of the Witwaterstrand in Johannesburg. She has chosen to study medicine.
She lives up to her belief of work hard and play hard.
“My hobbies are dancing, jogging and playing the piano,” Ravjee added.
