Choirs wow audience

Many people gathered to commemorate lost loved ones at the Hospice East Rand “Tree of memories” ceremony held at the Northfield Methodist Church on the evening of November 19.

The Welsh Male Voice Choir and the St Dunstan’s College jazz band and their choir took turns and rightfully serenaded the crowd, singing songs such as the classic ensemble “wishing you were somehow here again”, to which the crowd responded in great applause.

Lucille Hagemann read the emotional poem “When tomorrow starts without me”.

As the night progressed and loved ones were honoured and remembered with songs and the lighting of candles, the atmosphere in the auditorium was one of peace and unity.

It was a successful night and when the time came to light the candles and to remember those who’ve since died; teary moments were shared among the crowd.

The Welsh Male Choir concluded the evening by leading everyone to the South African national anthem.
