Dogs left without water on seven visits

Two dogs were confiscated from a property in Cloverdene on Wednesday (November 2).

Manager of the Benoni SPCA, Vicky Finnemore, said the owner was given several warnings.

“The owner was given several verbal and written warnings by the SPCA, to rectify the living conditions and to provide water for the animals, but failed to comply,” said Finnemore.

She said the society visited the property on seven different occasions in the space of a month, only to find the dogs had no water.

Finnemore added that one of the dogs was kept on a running wire, eventually leading to it being entangled.

The Benoni SPCA and police entered the property with a warrant to seize the animals.

Finnemore said the owner has not yet contacted the SPCA regarding the confiscation.

A case of cruelty to animals has been opened.
