Joy brought to pensioners

Haven Care Centre hosted a pensioners’ day, themed “Forget me not”, on Saturday, October 22.

The centre spoiled the pensioners for the day while entertaining them.

Residents from Rynpark One and the Deneys Conradie Residentia attended the event and were treated to lunch and cake and also received goodie bags.

The centre is situated at 156 Oak Road, Benoni Agricultural Holdings, and takes care of abused women, children and destitute people.

Beverley Croote, spokesperson for the centre, said they give women a place to stay and a job, for which they receive a stipend and three meals a day.

“We raise funds via telephone and have several sponsors supporting us,” said Croote.

Pem Morgan founded the Haven Care Centre with his late co-founder, Betty Crellin, in 1999.

Croote added that they organise this event to spoil the pensioners a bit, because they’ve done their duty and they’ve earned it.
