Two women arrested for theft

Two women, between the ages of 23 and 25, were arrested for the theft of a motor vehicle on September 27.

They appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on October 5 and were denied bail.

They are currently being detained at the Sun City Prison, Naturena.

Their next appearance will be on October 17.

According to Crystal Park SAPS acting communications officer Tryna Maritz, two men met with the two women at a club in Kwa-Thema, Springs.

“The men took the suspects to their house, where they continued to party,” said Maritz.

“Apparently (the men) were drugged and, when they woke up, their personal belongings and vehicle had been stolen.”

The case of theft of a motor vehicle was opened on August 28.

Maritz said it is alleged that this was not the first complaint, as similar incidents occurred in Kwa-Thema and Tembisa.

The investigating officer, Const Sylvia Moremedi, is appealing to community members to come forward if they are also victims of such a crime.

Crystal Park Station commander, Lieut Col Belinda Motaung, applauded the investigating officer, Moremedi for her hard work that went into the investigation.

Moremedi can be contacted on 011 969 4880 or 011 968 9065.
