Ten dogs confiscated from property

Ten dogs, including eight puppies, were confiscated from a property where they were living in “horrendous” conditions.

The Benoni SPCA seized the animals on October 7, from a rundown building on Cranbourne Avenue.

Manager of the Benoni SPCA, Vicky Finnemore, said two grown female dogs were each living in the building with a litter.

“All of the animals were terrified and it was extremely difficult for SPCA staff to catch them in the massive, rundown building,” she said.

“The animals were taken back to the Benoni SPCA and are recovering nicely.”

She said a bag of dog food was found on the premises, indicating the animals were being fed.

A notice of seizure was left on the premises, but the owner of the building had, on Monday, not yet contacted the Benoni SPCA.
