The court decided at his first appearance, on Monday (September 12), that the case should be postponed to Friday for legal aid.
The suspect was arrested on Friday (September 9), in Rynfield, following a case of rape and assault, which was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.
According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee, the victim returned to her home on September 2 and was allegedly assaulted and raped in her garage, while her head was covered with a blanket.
The City Times asked police about the number of assailants involved, but, at this stage, the investigation is ongoing and only one suspect has appeared in court.
