Farrarmere Primary hosts Drakensberg choir
As part of their 40th anniversary, Farrarmere Primary School hosted the Drakensberg Boys Choir recently.
The audience enjoyed the performances of Farrarmere Primary School’s Junior, Senior and Show choirs, before the KwaZulu-Natal-based singing group took to the stage.
The powerful performance drew praise and applause from the crowd.
Charlotte Botha, conductor of the Drakensberg Boys Choir, said it is an honour to be hosted by Farrarmere Primary School.
“It is such a privilege to be involved with the school, they have gone all out to accommodate us,” Botha said.
She said the choir consists of boys from grades Four to Nine from the Drakensberg Boys Choir School.
“These are the toughest boys you’ll ever meet; they come out as gentlemen.”
René Gouws, from Farrarmere Primary School, said it has been a long-time dream of hers, to organise a big musical event at the school.
“I couldn’t believe it when Drakensberg Boys Choir School replied to an email I had sent, and said they would come over,” Gouws said.
She conducted the three Farrarmere Primary School choirs, while the school’s music teacher, Surita McWilliams, played the piano as accompaniment.
