Two guns found on school premises

Two firearms and 22 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from a school premises in Wattville today (August 8).

Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe, Actonville SAPS spokesperson, said police received information that two guns were on the school premises, next to the perimeter fence.

Actonville Police Station members Capt Abraham Nkadawire and Const Myrah Seluka went to the school and recovered the weapons.

Police found a 9mm police-issued pistol with 11 rounds of live ammunition. There was no serial number and the weapon had a police emblem on it.

The second gun discovered was a 9mm Norinco, which contained 11 live rounds of ammunition and no serial number.

Maqabe said police are investigating how the guns got onto the school premises.

Investigations are ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
