Rules of the road out the window

Justine Harpin writes:

I would really like to know where everyone who drives on Pretoria Road got their licences.

The last time I checked you had to stop at a red traffic light.

However, it seems that with roadworks on Pretoria Road, basic rules of the road no longer apply.

I regularly get to the traffic lights at Parker Street and they are green for me and red for Pretoria Road.

But I have to stop to ensure that there are no vehicles as no one is going to stop even though it’s red for them.

My goodness, they don’t even slow down!

If it is clear I can then proceed with caution.

How a serious accident has not happened here or on Lessing Street is surprising.

I really do hope that when the roadworks are complete drivers will decide that traffic lights are for stopping at not just going straight through.
