‘What shocking service’

Sharon White writes:

My husband was in Western Extension on Saturday, before 1.30pm, and they were all out, even though it was within the collection period.

He was sent away, being told they had been waiting for more containers which did not arrive.

When I phoned the municipality on June 27, I was told to go to Morehill or Northmead on June 27.

Never mind that we have to work for a living, so we are at work and cannot get time off, nor do we have a car or transport to get to these areas.

They could not organise it properly, now we have to correct their mess.

The man I spoke to was not very helpful nor did he care.

What shocking service.

I know for a fact that we are not the only ones in our area who did not get a bin, as my husband said there was long line of people.

I believe having a dustbin is a right and if I do not have one my refuse will not be collected in refuse bags.

I have no choice, as no one at the municipality has been of any assistance to me.

I am extremely upset at the service I received because I will be left without a bin and will need to pay for one in the future, yet this is not my fault.

Editor’s note:

The municipality had not responded to the letter at the time of going to print.
