Pedestrian killed on N12

A pedestrian died on the N12 highway this afternoon (June 5), after being hit by a vehicle.

The incident happened just before the Putfontein off-ramp, when travelling towards Johannesburg, at around 2.50pm.

Paramedic Francois Lombard said the pedestrian, who is believed to be in his 40s, was found dead in the middle of the highway.

Lombard said a grey BMW three-series struck the man.

The driver of the car, who was alone in the vehicle, did not sustain injuries.

Only one lane was open to traffic at 3.50pm.
