Local DJ dreams big

He is a rapper who has been trying to make his mark since the age of 17, and he is finally seeing the results of his hard work.

Mduduzi Gift Mahlangu, better known as Mjay Da Spoilt Brat, who lives in Daveyton, has been performing since 2010 and his music is finally playing on 90.8 Ukhosi FM.

Specialising in the genre of hip hop, Mjay ventured into a solo career with songs like ShowTime, MamaSita, Freshest Kids, Dreams and Nightmares, Can I Live, Nothing Was The Same and Ice Cream Conversation.

This talented individual, who is 23 years old, has been associated with various local DJs and dreams of collaborating with many more artists, including AKA and J Cole.

“I want to be internationally recognised for my music,” Mjay said.

“I also want to eventually have my own clothing brand.”

The young rapper has big dreams but also faces many challenges in reality, one being finance.

“Being an upcoming DJ can be challenging when you do not have the financial support because of the material that I would like to put in my music but cannot afford to,” he said.

But this did not stop him from achieving what is possible right now.

“I released my own mix-tape last year, and I have performed for crowds in Daveyton,” he said.

And his love for music and support from his family will remain his motivation.

“Music is a way to express how you are feeling and it frees you from your captive thoughts by allowing you to sing about what is on your mind,” he concluded.
