Sliding into second

Benonian drifter Jim McFarlane had a terrific outing in Cape Town at the weekend, in his Achilles Nissan 350Z .

The Western Extension resident earned his spot on the podium by finishing in second position at the second tour stop of Supadrift at Killarney Race Track, on Saturday, April 30.

He capitalised on a fourth place qualifying position to claim silver.

McFarlane told the City Times that the track was super fast, with incredible sideways entry speeds of 150km/h in front of an amazing crowd in excess of 4 000 people.

“It felt great in the car, and the new tyres that Achilles had provided were incredible,” said the drifter.

“They gave me the traction and control that helped me to reach that kind of speed with control and precision.

“It was amazing to enter at those speeds, and to keep a car sliding sideways.”

The podium place sees McFarlane in third position on the overall Supadrift points standings.

Supadrift now moves to Dezzi Raceway, in Port Shepstone, for round three.
