Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) acting national spokesperson, Robbie Raburabu, said the Benoni Police Station-based officer allegedly raped his girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter on April 3.
“The child could apparently not report it immediately because the officer threatened her,” said Raburabu.
The constable was nabbed in Tembisa.
Raburabu could not confirm whether the man was arrested at his home, but said the crime is believed to have taken place at the suspect’s girlfriend’s Tembisa residence.
The officer appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on April 28.
He was remanded in custody with his case postponed to May 16, where he is expected to apply for bail.
