Ambition or restlessness?

Restlessness in your career can be a sign of ambition, but it can also be your downfall.

This was the message of Steve Schwartz (owner of Platinum Gold), at the A Round 10 Business Clusters (ARTBC) meeting held at Cherrylane Gourmet Café recently.

The ARTBC is a business breakfast forum where each meeting has a different speaker, each sharing their stories of success and what they learnt along the way.

The initiative is hosted by Gryphon Enterprise Development, whose vision it is to create unity and co-operation in the local business sector.

Schwartz addressed the room by recalling his own journey as an employee and entrepreneur.

He explained how he views himself as the “master of disaster”, always attracting adverse circumstances and making mistakes along the way, but noted that he learnt priceless lessons from these situations.

He also discussed his tendency to move on to “the next best thing”, becoming easily bored by an occupation in his youth, emphasising this could be thanks to ambition, or due to an inherent restlessness.

Schwartz concluded with the message that he ended up on the path he wanted to, not by being a boss who orders employees around, but by leading by example.

The breakfasts are held every third Friday of the month, at Cherrylane Gourmet Café, in Northmead, from 7.30am to 8.30am.

There is a fee for the breakfast buffet.
