Technicians still battling to restore water supply

It is unclear when water will be restored to several suburbs, after technicians experienced "technical problems".

EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe said repair crews worked through the night to fix a pipe in Cloverdene, on the corner of Fifth and North roads.

Crystal Park, Cloverdene and Van Ryn Small Holdings have been without water since yesterday morning.

This is after the same areas were without water for five days last week, due to a leak on a pipeline 10m from the one that technicians are currently trying to repair.

Gadebe told the City Times yesterday afternoon that water should be restored by 1am this morning (March 12).

He said “technical problems” have prevented the municipality from repairing the leak by the time they expected to.

He could not say when water would be restored to affected areas.

Meanwhile, water tankers are available at the following points:

Crystal Park Police Station;
Crystal Gate Spar;
Crystal Park Primary School;
One mobile water tanker around the plots.
