Cloverdene water leak not yet over

Some suburbs may again be without water today, due to a recurring water leak.

Cloverdene resident Andries Strydom said the leak on the corner of Fifth and North roads started up again on Tuesday – after it was repaired on Monday.

Watch a video of the leak here:

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) cut water to Crystal Park, Cloverdene and Van Ryn Small Holdings on March 3, to repair an 800mm main water pipe.

Water eventually returned to the suburbs on March 8, but so did the leak.

The City Times has seen a message stating that the leak will be repaired today, with water being switched off to accommodate the repair.

The EMM has stationed water tankers at these points:

  • Crystal Park Police Station;
  • Crystal Gate Spar;
  • Crystal Park Primary School;
  • One mobile water tanker around the plots.

The EMM was not available for comment at the time of publishing.
