Easterns Eagles Super Fives to take flight

Super Fives Hockey will host the Super Fives League at the Eastern Gauteng Hockey Association (EGHA) AstroTurf in Benoni from Saturday, February 13, to Sunday, March 20, featuring teams from schools, companies and sportspeople in the Ekurhuleni region.

Super Fives Hockey is the latest format that has been introduced by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to create a shortened version of the game that aligns with other international sporting codes like Cricket (T20), Rugby (Sevens), and Soccer (Fives).

The newly formed Easterns Eagles will be holding an open day on Saturday, February 6, from 11.30am to 2.30pm at the EGHA AstroTurf.

The inaugural leagues will cater for players from u-13 to u-19 age group levels, with seniors and masters leagues to follow soon.

Hockey players are encouraged to get involved in the Easterns Eagles Franchise League.

Prospective players can enter as a team or as an individual, either online at superfives.co.za/easternseagles or contact Shaun Taylor on 082 489 001 or easternseagles@superfives.co.za.

The Super Fives Hockey League is operated locally by former South African national players, Lloyd Norris-Jones and Steve Evans.

Super Fives franchises are being launched in Eastern Gauteng (Easterns Eagles), Southern Gauteng (Southern Trappers), Cape Town Northern Suburbs (Tigers) and Cape Town Southern Suburbs (Western Thunder), with more franchises being added at a rapid rate.
