Dump rubbish at the correct site

Residents may dump only garden refuse at the Northmead Mini Garden Disposal Site.

There have been reports of people dumping prohibited materials.

Ward 28’s Clr Mary Goby said any other waste, which is non-toxic, may be dumped at the Weltevreden site, in Brakpan.

Residents will be fined R2 000 if they are found dumping anything other than garden refuse at a site which should only accept garden matter.

“It will cost people much less to dump their waste at the correct place,” said Goby.

The details of vehicles whose drivers don’t adhere to the by-laws of dumping will be taken and reported to the person on standby immediately.

The following dumping sites are open to residents:

  •  Weltevreden site, Main Reef Road (towards Brakpan) – all non-toxic waste.

Garden refuse must be dropped off at the following locations:

  •  Northmead Mini Garden Disposal Site, Hospital Road, Northmead;
  •  Cloverdene Mini Garden Disposal Site, Fourth Road, Cloverdene, and
  •  Actonville Mini Garden Disposal Site, Daya Street, Actonville.

All sites are open from 7am until 6pm, seven days a week, except for public holidays and Christmas.
