Successful networking at year’s last business breakfast

Cherrylane Gourmet Café hosted the last monthly business breakfast of the A Round 10 Business Clusters (ARTBC) for the year, on November 20.

The ARTBC is a breakfast forum where each meeting has a different speaker, each sharing their stories of success and what they learned along the way.

The initiative was started by Gryphon Enterprise Development, whose vision is to create unity and co-operation in the local business sector.

The ARTBC aims at building resilient business communities in Cape Town, Johannesburg and beyond borders.

“The difference between our breakfasts is that we do not have motivational speakers, but rather real, tangible business people who come to share their business journey in order to re-ignite, encourage resilience, educate and inspire the audience to keep going in these turbulent economic times,” said Bonnie Chimanikire, project co-ordinator.

“This is not to build a networking relationship between companies, but rather to build a community of business owners, sharing advice and experience,” said Jacques van Heerden, ARTBC founder and CEO of Gryphon Enterprise Development.

The speaker at this breakfast was Coenie van de Venter, who retired from the corporate world several years ago, to focus on building a real estate portfolio.

Van de Venter served as an executive committee member of Shosholoza Meyl, which is currently under Prasa management.

His new venture proved profitable, becoming financially independent within only a few years, although he still serves as a human resources consultant in the mining and manufacturing industries.

The breakfasts are held every third Friday of the month, at Cherry Lane Café, in Northmead, from 7.30am to 8.30am.

There is a fee for the breakfast buffet.
