Thousands expected at Toy Run

The 33rd annual Gauteng Motorcycle Toy Run will return to the Benoni Northerns Sports Grounds on November 29.

Around 20 000 to 30 000 bikers are expected to descend on Benoni, each carting along at least one toy.

Many of the bikers will gather at Irene Village Mall, The Blockhouse, Carnival City and Silverstar Casino and make their way to the sports grounds.

Non-bikers are also welcome to attend on the day, and are asked to bring along a toy (old or new) as their ticket to enter.

Toy guns, knives and battery operated toys will not be accepted.

Toiletry bags and stationery kits may be donated.

All the donations will be made to underprivileged children.

The mass procession is expected to arrive just after 9am.

Traffic interruptions are expected on the Atlas Road stretch from the R21, to Elgin and Great North roads, up to the Hospital Road intersection.

Parts of Hanekam will also be affected.

Brodigan Street will be closed from 8am until about 4.30pm, at the latest.
