Suspect shot after house break-in

A suspected robber was shot after he broke into a house on Monday, October 12.

CMS received a call from a gardener, after he saw two people breaking into a home in Farrarmere, close to the N12 highway.

“When CMS arrived, at 2.05pm, the suspects fled the premises and threw objects at the CMS officers,” said Lieut Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson.

“One suspect jumped out of a window of the house and they both tried to cross the N12 highway.

“During the altercation, one suspect was shot in the upper and lower body, while on the premises.”

The man fell down before crossing the highway, while the second suspect (22) was arrested on the N12 West.

ER24 transported the wounded man (25) to Tembisa Hospital.

A case of housebreaking will be opened at the Benoni Police Station.
