Man (18) arrested, linked to several other crimes

An 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing copper pipes from a house in Farrarmere, on August 3.

“One of the workers chased after the suspect but he managed to get away.”

Police were contacted and a lookout for him was given.

The suspect was spotted on Third Avenue, Northmead, and WO Jaco Myburgh and Const Vernon Alladipan, along with the CPF, gave chase.

The 18-year-old was found with copper pipes in his possession.

He was charged with theft and being in possession of suspected stolen property.

He was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on August 5.
