Sewage problem resurfaces for sixth time as yard is flooded

A manhole located on an Airfield property has been overflowing with sewage since Tuesday (June 23).

At 4pm on Tuesday, Mollie Moolman, who lives in Typhoon Street, called to report that sewage had just started flowing from the manhole.

She said she had received a reference number from the municipality, but that nothing had happened for the next few days.

According to Moolman, it is the sixth time this has happened in the past two years.

“I call all the time, but don’t get anywhere, it feels like my hands are chopped off, I’m powerless,” she added.

She has resorted to keeping her dogs inside, as the sewage has filled much of the yard and has started flowing from the backyard to the gate and down the street.

“They should come out faster, this is unsafe; there’s a school right here in the street, it’s very unhealthy,” she said.
