EMM maintains it has a 48-hour response time

Ekurhuleni maintain that they respond to water leaks within 48 hours, despite the City Times presenting the municipality with information of two complainants who claim to have waited far longer.

A woman said she reported a water leak outside a property on 12th Avenue, Northmead, to the Ekurhuleni call centre on December 19.

The complainant said it was first attended to in May – five months later – and is still a problem.

Another community member, who resides in Farrarmere, said she waited more than 48 hours for a leak to be repaired on the corner of Jupiter and Virgo streets.

She reported the leak on March 5 and 11, and again on June 9.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the municipality attends to water leaks within 48 hours; however, on average, they are responded to within 24 hours.
