No answers yet to water shortage

The metro should provide Crystal Park and Cloverdene residents with answers to their water shortage by noon.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe told the City Times at 8.25am today, that he has asked the water department to provide reasons and a time frame for when the water supply will be restored.

Large parts of Crystal Park and Cloverdene have reportedly been without water for several days.

Crystal Park resident Heather Morgan said she went without water on Friday and Saturday.

The Saldahna Street resident said the water was sporadic on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

She said she and her daughter have had to shower at her mother’s Rynpark residence every day.

She has also had to use swimming pool water to flush toilets.

Morgan said the situation is getting beyond a joke.

Cloverdene resident Amiel Maritz said he has had a sporadic water supply since Thursday, being left without water on Saturday.

Maritz said he has had to collect water elsewhere for the animals on his plot.

Vaughn Grobler, of Eighth Road, Cloverdene, said he discovered this morning that his water meter is still running despite his home not having any water.

Grobler drives to Impala Park every day to replenish his water supply.

He said he questioned his two-week sporadic supply of water with the Ekurhuleni call centre.

He was first told that Rand Water was experiencing a water shortage and then that a pipe had burst.

More details will follow as soon as they become available.

  1. It’s Wed 17 Sep, and yet again zero water from the taps here in Morehill. The burst pipe theory is getting really old. Unless they would like me to believe that everyday a new pipe breaksdown, and is miraculously fixed at around 10pm that evening.

Can someone in charge just man up and tell us what the hell is going on and stop making up stories. Please!

  2. No Water again, the town council blames rand water. rand water blames the council.
thousands of rand’s spent on calling useless call centers, and still we need to drive to friends and family to collect water. When can we just get a answer

  3. This is ridiculous we just have to accept these lame excses for no water….but wait until you dont pay your W&L bill they are quick to cut your power. We live in crystal park, Saldahna street and we are battling with water. What is happening.

  4. So, the right questions are. WHY IS THE RESAVOR EMPTY? WHAT IS BEING DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

What the hell is going on? Please answer the residance and stop lying.

  5. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT NOBODY CAN PROVIDE ANSWERS AFTER 10 DAYS OF INTERRUPTIONS OF THE WATER SUPPLY. THE PAST 3 DAYS WE HAD NO WATER AT ALL IN CRYSTAL PARK. ALL WE WANT IS INFORMATION.

  6. This is the new South Africa after all.
No one take responsibility when it comes to anything all they do is blame someone else way to easy. When you try to phone the helpdesk someone picks up the phone and puts it on the desk, or you cannot hear them or the sound drunk.
Or they lie to you by saying no Sir there is no problem.
And yes I do agree my meter is also running, and I do agree they are easy to cut your water and light but when we do the same by demanding basic services they are way too lazy to correct the problem.
And one more thing this is been going for about 3 weeks now water comes and goes.
Today is the 18 and still no water
It been 5 days with no water

  7. Some answers would be great! We spending a fortune buying water and driving to relatives to bath. Not as if it is given to us for free we paying for water.

  8. Today, 18 September, and still no water in Morehill. What is really going on here? We now need answers – we can’t bath, wash clothes or dishes never mind water the garden. We have to pay our bills but are getting absolutely no service. Will we get a rebate for over a week of no water to make up for all the driving around to other areas where we have family so that we can shower??
Perhaps Ebotse shouldn’t have been allowed to be built if there wasn’t enough water for the existing areas!

  9. Im also in Crystal park, thought it was the RDP housing that was causing this. What the heck is going on here! PS for those in Crystal Park the clinic has had a fresh water tank out on Wednesday. Think they are trying at least to get water to us while this goes on.

  10. It is a disgrace I have lived in Crystal Park for over 30 years and never had water problem like we have now With no one to give information and no indication of when these water problems will be rectified If we fail to pay our bill on time we get cut off very quickly We cant even get a reason why we have water problems never mind a solution. We are paying for a service we have not got Why?

  11. We have been without water in Cloverdene for two and a half weeks on and off… the worst has been since Friday 12th September 2014 through to Monday 22nd (4 days), then again Wednesday 24th September through to this evening being Friday 19th September(and it’s still off). This situation is totally ridiculous!! No one is willing to give us answers as to exactly what the situation is and when it will be sorted out. WHO CAN LIVE LIKE THIS?? Rand Water blames the municipality and the municipality blames rand water… We must pay premium rates for municipal services and we must live like squatters in the bush. We are without the basic human right to water! I have to drive my family to Boksburg everyday to shower and replenish water for toilets and drinking water – and then travel back to Benoni to drop everyone where they need to be before going to work..this is madness!!!!!!!!! Requesting the people responsible for this crisis to get their act together and fix what they have messed up would be too much to ask I suppose.

  12. ROFLMAO!!!

And yet you people mock and ridicule the doomsday preppers who stockpile food and water !!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
