Fortune Mahano has replaced Shelley Loe as DA caucus leader in Ekurhuleni, while André du Plessis replaces Heather Hart as chief whip.
Hart was chief whip for three months, following the departure of Ashor Sarupen, who has been deployed to drive the DA’s election campaign in 2014.
The announcement was made at the council meeting, in Germiston, on November 26.
Mahano previously held the position of chairman of the DA caucus in Ekurhuleni, and was elected as leader by the DA caucus on November 25.
Tanya Campbell has been appointed chairman of the DA caucus in Ekurhuleni.
Angela Barnes, DA media liaison in Ekurhuleni, said the changes in leadership were due to “our ordinary mid-term election”.
