Local drummies work their magic

The Laerskool Rynfield Drum Majorettes have completed a successful 2013 season.

After the week-long national championships, held in Polokwane, the team achieved a second place in the Champion of Champions section.

In addition, eight members, Danae van der Merwe, Shannica Burmeister, Calista Botes, Gaby Pinto, Katy Knell, Caitlin Singleton, Rachel Cross and Zani Fourie, were awarded their Gauteng provincial colours for drum majorettes in September 2013, proving that the Rynfield drummies are definitely among the best in the country.

The squad is looking forward to competing in the 2014 season and is hard at work preparing.

Drum majorettes involves a large amount of dedication and commitment, and the will to succeed, but is incredibly rewarding.

It teaches participants the intricacies of team work, co-ordination and time management.
