Rotax action closes the season at IDube

Both junior and senior competitors were on fire and keen to end the season on the podium, setting a firm base for next season.

This epic hillside track delivered all the usual action and angst, highlighted by a full pack of premier class DD2 runners at the September 17 race event.

Brent Walden was on form as he left top masters’ driver Jonno Pieterse to fight Riley Horner and Nicholas Wuite off for the scraps. Another ever improving masters’ man, Alistair Mingay continued to impress in fifth, with Richard Van Heerde next ahead of Masters’ five, Shane Foley, Richard Horner, Chris Grobbelaar, Bev Van Heerde and Reval Gayadin.

Corban Spies and Yifan Li fought hard in senior max, with Spies taking the day two heats to one. Juandre Nel was always close enough to pick up the pieces from Dhivyen Naidoo and Hannah Daniel. Rotax master remains hugely popular in KZN, but nobody was stopping Allan John Rice on Sunday as he led James Stewart, Alan Johnston, and Robin Jeffrey home.

Uzair Kahn.

Dhyvien Naidoo was unstoppable in under-15 junior max in spite of Uzair Khan’s best efforts. Jonno Wilson, Maahir Wahab, Brandon van der Nest, Travis Yield and Yashil Ghazi fought it out behind. In the primary school classes, Kyle Spies beat Troy Pieterse and Sebastian Geldenhuys to all three mini max wins.

Ryan Falconer did the same over Kiyaan and Ashaan Redd in under-11 micro max and Kayden Pistauer won baby Bbambino from Teiyan Chetty. The 4-stroke karts are also most popular in KZN and on Sunday Kyle Nivison scored a close win after sharing out the wins with Andrew Nivison and Byron Campbell.
