Help your preschooler make a body flipbook

Body flip books are entertaining and stimulating to the imagination. Your child will enjoy matching the various bodies to the various heads.

Your child will love making this fun body flip book. Draw all kinds of interesting people and later mix and match their body parts to create changing characters.

What you need

  • A4 or Letter size paper
  • Crayons or coloured pencils
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

How to make it

  1. Find an appropriate body print pattern online. A basic body template may be found by clicking here.
  2. Make three or more copies on A4 paper.
  3. Using scissors, cut the paper along the dotted line.
  4. Draw a character on each page using crayons, coloured pencils, or markers. Make unusual characters like a clown, cowboy, princess, cop, astronaut, hula dancer, scuba diver, or ballerina. You may even sketch your child’s favourite cartoon figure, a frightening monster, a superhero, or a fictional character.
  5. Cut each page along the two horizontal dotted lines. Remember to stop cutting once you reach the solid vertical line.
  6. Gather the pages together. Add a page of plain coloured paper in front and another one at the back.
  7. Staple the pages together about ¾-inch from the left edge. This roughly corresponds to the position of the solid vertical line on the left side of each page.
  8. Help your child decorate the front cover by drawing or colouring it.
