22 WWE Superstars to follow in 2022

2022 promises to be an action-packed year in WWE and we can only anticipate more live action from these superstars.

We have seen so many WWE Superstars creating and taking reigns into the thrones and dominating in the ring. Even if you may not be the biggest WWE fan, these superstars are surely ones to take note of as they are currently the hottest, most entertaining people in WWE.

2022 promises to be a big year in WWE, with more live WWE coverage in SA than ever! We are here to help you get on trend and up to speed to make sure you follow the wavemakers and hottest superstars of WWE.  

  1. Roman Reigns

WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns is probably the number one person to be following right now. As the head of the table and one of the biggest stars of WWE, WWE Universe can anticipate heat and exhilarating scenes from Reigns from the first pay-per-view of 2022, Day 1 and a continuation of his legacy in the new year. Closing off 2021 with a massive rivalry against Brock Lesnar, Reigns will find himself defending his titles in 2022.

  1. Becky Lynch

WWE Women’s Raw Champion is popularly known as “The Man” or “Big Time Becks”. She is the leading lady of WWE and has been undefeated since her return to WWE at Summer Slam 2021. All year, with various women gunning for her title, she made sure to dominate in 2021. As she moves into 2022 as a reigning champion, she walks with a target on her back; will she be able to keep the momentum in 2022?

  1. Big E

WWE Champion, Big E earned his first championship title this year after successfully defeating Bobbly Lashley in September – a first-time win in his career. As a first-time champ, being able to defend his title consistently shows that he is a force to be reckoned with in the coming year. He has proven how hard work gets you to the top and will be a great act to follow to see what he brings to WWE in the new year.

  1. Charlotte Flair

 The Queen, Charlotte Flair is a 13-time WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion and remains undefeated since becoming champion. While some argue that she is a bully in the ring, it may not last too long with the likes of Xia Li here to bring justice. Once again, defending a title comes with a world of rivalries and one can only imagine what Smackdown will look like in 2022 for The Queen.  

  1. Randy Orton

A fan favourite for almost two decades, Randy Orton continues to achieve milestones in the new year. 2022 marks 20 years of Randy Orton’s career in WWE and he will be bringing legendary content to the WWE world. At 41, The Legend Killer is the wrestler with the most matches in pay-per-view events and is continuing the Age of Orton by being part of the Tag Team Champion duo, RK Bro.  2022 promises to continue his legacy.

  1. Sasha Banks

“The Blue Print of The Blue Brand” as she calls herself, Sasha Banks is one of the greatest contenders for the Smackdown Women’s Championship title. Her rivalry with former best friend, Bayley has been noted as one of the greatest in women’s wrestling history and one to look out for in 2022.  Could she win the Championship title again from Charlotte Flair?

  1. Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins, aka The Kingslayer, shouldn’t be underestimated as he has brought down the likes of Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 35. A true underdog and dark horse, WWE Universe can anticipate seeing a powerful Rollins rising to the top in 2022 as he guns for the WWE Championship title.

  1. Carmella

Carmella is an act to follow both on WWE and social media. She is one-half of WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Zelina Vega. Carmella has been accused of having it easy and not paying her dues on WWE by Liv Morgan, but that could possibly be out of jealousy because in 2021, Carmella work hard to be where she is. In 2022, The WWE Universe can see more from Carmella in the ring. Her best friend Bayley, who has been away from WWE due to injury is set to make her possible return at Wrestlemania 38. Could Carmella ditch Zelina to join forces with her best friend to form a tag team?

  1. Bianca Belair

The fastEST, bEST, strongEST – Bianca Belair is the EST of WWE. One of the hardest working wrestlers the stable has seen in 2021, winning WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion and Royal Rumble, 2022 is guaranteed to be a big year for Belair. She has her eyes set on the championship title, which had been taken from her by Becky Lynch at SummerSlam. Since being drafted to RAW, Belair has a new opportunity to take on Lynch and could be the new champion in 2022.  

  1. Zelina Vega

Queen Zelina came in strong in 2021, winning The Queen’s Crown tournament this year.  She is also one-half of Women’s Tag Team Champions with Carmella and has shown her strength. The WWE Universe can only imagine what she will bring to the ring in 2022 and if she will continue to reign in royalty throughout the upcoming year. All Hail Queen Zelina!  

  1. Edge

A legend at WWE, Edge’s career spans over 20 years. Although the WWE Universe hasn’t seen Edge on TV since Crown Jewel in October after defeating Seth Rollins in the Hell in a Cell match, could the legend make an explosive comeback in 2022 on RAW?

  1. Liv Morgan

Live Morgan has come out quite strong in 2021 and the WWE Universe has seen her challenge the likes of Becky Lynch for the championship title. Her feud with Lynch is far from over and Liv is determined to take her on in the new year.  In 2022, the WWE Universe can anticipate seeing more from Liv as she makes her mark on RAW in her pursuit to become WWE’s RAW Women’s Champion.

  1. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn’s eye has been on the WWE Universal Championship prize for a long time, but he just cannot get past Brock Lesnar to fight Roman Reigns. Zayn has been looking for his opportunity to challenge Roman Reigns in the ring, more particularly on Day 1. He may be injured, but he will get back up again and gun for the title in the new year.

  1. Naomi

A true rising star and The Glow of WWE, Naomi is a force that is waiting to strike. On Smackdown, she has had to fight her way through to justice against the likes of Sonya Denville. Xia Li, who has made her debut to Smackdown has come to help Naomi fight the odds. Could this be the start of a new alliance and friendship in the new year?

  1. Bobby Lashley

What would this list be without The Almighty? 2021 was a big year for Bobby, winning the championship title at SummerSlam. Although he has lost to Goldberg and Big E this year, he has been training very hard in the last few weeks and is a man with a vengeance and agenda.  The Almighty is gearing up for 2022 to take on Big E, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship title.

  1. Alexa Bliss

The woman of many transitions. Alexa Bliss is the true shapeshifter and character adopter of WWE. WWE Universe has seen her ups and downs after being bullied and humiliated by the likes of Charlotte Flair. However, Alexa Bliss is one to always rise. Although the WWE Universe hasn’t seen her since losing to Charlotte Flair at Extreme Rules, there is hope that she could make a comeback in 2022 to settle the score against Flair.

  1. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio is one of the most iconic WWE legends of all time. Along with his unique look and his signature move, Rey Mysterio defines his legacy at WWE. Not only is Mysterio a legend in his own right but he is also raising a future star, Dominik Mysterio, and has been very involved and supportive in his son’s rise in WWE. Could the WWE Universe see a father-son tag-team duo in 2022? Anything is possible.

  1. Rhea Ripley

This young Aussie is full of fire, and the WWE Universe has seen just what she is capable of in 2021 through making her first main roster appearance at Royal Rumble and giving stellar performances on RAW throughout the year. 2022 could be a great one for Rhea Ripley as she displays her strength and ability at next year’s Royal Rumble, and could be the ultimate winner.  

  1. Drew McIntyre

The Scottish Warrior as he is popularly known in the WWE Universe is exactly that, a warrior! Through various challenges, he repeatedly proved this by not only defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 26 to win WWE Universal Champion and Goldberg at Royal Rumble 2021 to retain the WWE Championship.  Throughout 2021, no one has been able to take this warrior down; who would be able to take on a man with a sword? In 2022, the WWE Universe can see him rise to possibly become a champion again.

  1. Jimmy Uso

One half of The Usos and part of Roman Reigns’ Bloodline, Jimmy Uso has been ruthless in the ring and has shown up time and time again for his family in the ring. In 2022, the WWE Universe can anticipate more from The Usos and particularly Jimmy as he continues to protect his family with all that he has and to gun for the WWE Men’s Tag Team Championship title.

  1. Dana Brooke

Dana Brooke achieved her first title reign and was named 24/7 Champion after defeating Cedric Alexandra on RAW in November. Dana Brooke is a rising star that is earning her stripes at RAW. In 2022, we could see her rise to be the perfect opponent for Becky Lynch.

  1. Xia Li

Xia Li joined Smackdown for the first time this December after being drafted in October 2021. She plays the role of “The Protector”, bringing justice and stability to the blue brand, and has saved the likes of Naomi against the injustice of Sonya Denville. Being new to the match cards she is likely to cause havoc in WWE and you do not want to miss out.
