Khanyisa calls on community for assistance with donations

With the arrival of the holiday season, Khanyisa Trust has appealed to the community for assistance with donations for Christmas hampers for its beneficiaries.

The trust is due to close for the Christmas break on December 15 and will re-open on January 10.

The manager of the trust Dipuo Tekana said as per custom Khanyisa will prepare Christmas hampers for its beneficiaries to assist them over the holiday period while its soup kitchen is closed.

“The hampers contain a variety of groceries to supplement the beneficiaries’ meals during the holiday season,” said Dipuo.

“We hope to prepare 120 packs that will be given out on December 14, the day before the centre closes.”

Items the trust requires for its hampers include:
•1kg maize meal.
• 1kg sugar.
• 410g tinned baked beans.
• 400g tinned fish.
• 300g tinned corned beef.
• 125g biscuits.
• 500g macaroni/spaghetti.
• Cup-a-soup
• Sweets.
• Sachets of powdered cooldrink mix.
• Deodorant.
• Toothpaste.
• Toothbrush.

“We would really appreciate any contributions to our Christmas hampers,” said Dipuo.

Donations can be delivered at the Trust, located at 58 Seventh Avenue Edenvale, on weekdays between 07:30 and 15:00.
