A note from our editor – The year 2020 and how we move forward

The NEWS wishes all our readers and advertisers a safe and happy festive season.

The world will never forget the year 2020.
It will become part of history. Its events and impact on mankind have already been recorded in history records for future generations.
Our communities have witnessed and suffered turmoil, hardship and devastation.
Our businesses suffered and many had to close their doors for good.
Our children had to cope with lockdown lessons while parents were forced to their knees, desperate for survival.
We all experienced it together.
It is in shared experience, I believe, that lies our hope for the future.
A collective power will always be stronger.
During the year of Covid-19, I have been affected by many things witnessed – hunger, pain, desperation but most of all by you, our readers.
You never hesitated to step forward when a fellow community member needed help. You spoke out when a fellow community member had no voice.
Looking back at 2020, week after week, we featured stories of community involvement and community action to help fellow residents.
I believe we can build on this sense of community in 2021 – if anything it can only make us stronger.
The NEWS wishes all our readers and advertisers a safe and happy festive season.
The first edition will be distributed the week ending January 15.
