Updated Mitsubishi ASX to hit showrooms in February

First launched locally in 2011, the ASX name has established itself in the compact SUV market.

Mitsubishi has introduced an updated model and will be in showrooms in February. Along with a newly designed frontend, bumper face and grille, the ASX received a new bonnet, LED headlights along with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps. The LED theme continues to the rear where the brake lights, taillights and reverse lights and integrated turning signals include this technology.

With both front and rear lights redesigned to compliment the new front and rear bumper, there is new 18-inch allow wheels the complete the new look on the exterior. You can specify your ASX in a variety of colours including Silky White Pearl, Sterling Silver, Titanium Grey, Red Diamond and Sporty Blue Mica. On the interior features a new front console housing and cabin controls. Mitsubishi also added the latest iteration of the Smartphone-link Display Audio interface to the 8.0-inch touch screen. The system supports Bluetooth, USB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The ASX also feature the Keyless Operating System with a unique Smart Key that works within a 70 cm radius from the vehicle for easy locking and unlocking.

The 2020 ASX retains its panoramic glass roof, electric power steering with a tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column, the multi-function leather steering wheel connected to the new SDA as well as cruise control, fully automatic air-conditioning and electric windows front and rear. The ASX also offers 406-litres of luggage space which increases to 1 206-litres with the rear seats folded down. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol motor which produces 110 kW and 197 N.m of torque. This engine can either be mated to a five-speed manual transmission or the brand’s INVECS-III six-step CVT transmission for improved performance, fuel efficiency. The latter option now offers a “Ds” position on the gear selector which allows for Sport Mode gear shift control and maintains it even after a complete stop.

The new ASX retains its passive and active safety features including the 7-airbag system, Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body construction Side Impact Protection Bars in the doors, a Collapsible Steering Column, Brake Pedal Recession Protection and Whiplash Injury Reduction Seats. It also sees the addition of Hill Start Assist and ASTC.

Warranty and service:

The ASX comes standard with a three-year/100 000km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan inclusive of a five-year/unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance.
