Fall in love with the music of Simon & Garfunkel all over again in the dynamic and uplifting musical journey Here’s to You, which delivers more than 20 of their classic hits.
The familiar and chart-topping songs of the hit duo Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel will be performed live by eight highly talented local singers in the national tour, including Johannesburg.
Take a trip down memory lane with hits such as Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Sound of Silence, Scarborough Fair, You Can Call Me Al, Mrs Robinson and the mega hit Graceland.
The show features fresh yet faithful reinterpretations of Simon & Garfunkel’s evergreen songs, blending nostalgia and imagination so that the young can discover the magic of their music for the very first time while the not-so-young enjoy memories of a bygone era.
Here’s To You was originally produced last year and enjoyed a sold-out season and rave reviews.
The show then successfully toured Cape Town.
“The response to the show was phenomenal, creating a high demand for tickets in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, which resulted in return seasons this year,” said Jaco van Rensburg of VR Theatrical, the show’s producer.
Here’s To You is performed by a stellar all-South African cast of eight talented singers who also play musical instruments live in the show.
Under the musical directorship of Wessel Odendaal, the the cast is led by The Voice SA 2017 runner-up Josh Ansley on guitar, with Ashleigh Butcher playing guitar, ukulele and bass guitar.
Daniel Geddes will be on keyboards and guitar, and Hanna So on piano, violin and cello.
Justin Swartz will be on cajon and percussion, Sanli Jooste on cello, and top-four Idols 2017 finalist Phindile Dube on percussion.
The sensational cast of multi-talented performers bring this timeless music to life in a theatrical setting. It’s a fresh take on Simon & Garfunkel’s classic songs that speak to all ages.
Here’s to You will be staged in Johannesburg until March 8 at the Pieter Toerien Theatre at Montecasino.
Shows are performed Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8pm, and at 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
